South Maybe Canyon Mine Cross Valley Fill Reclamation

Dioptra provided QC/QA services for Envirocon on the South Maybe Canyon Mine Cross Valley Fill Reclamation Project; these services included the establishment of site survey control, multiple surface verifications, and quantity calculations. This Agrium phosphate mine began construction in 1977 and completed mining operations in 1990. During mining operations, the ore was removed from South Maybe Mine Pit and the waste rock was placed in the adjacent canyon over Maybe Creek; a French Drain was constructed to allow water to pass under the  waste rock. For the 2015 reclamation project, the mine waste rock underwent re-contouring and impermeable liner installation which allows for efficient drainage of surface-water/run-off and prevents metals in the waste from passing into Maybe Creek.
